WHO IS CLAIRE SCHAPIRO? WHO IS JERRY LIEBMAN?
In Claire’s life, she wears two hats. One is the hat called “love of
horses”. It became part of her life as a child. She would muck stables
in exchange for trail time.
The other hat is that of a professional. She has been the Assistant
Director of Academic Records at a state university, a computer
programmer-project manager, and currently she is a federally licensed
Enrolled Agent – a tax expert.
As an Enrolled Agent she can represent any taxpayer on any U.S. income
matter before the Internal Revenue Service anywhere in the world.
She specializes in United States taxpayers who have horses. Her services
range from tax preparation to representation before the Internal Revenue
Service.
The minis are her Ying to her professional Yang life force.
Her life careers were accomplished only with the love and strong support
of her husband, Jerry Liebman. He was the program coordinator of
Automotive Technology at the City University of New York and only with
his support, could Claire have changed careers and built their wonderful
herd of minis.
Jerry retired from the City University in 1999. He spends his time now
as a professional musician. He is musical director of a local Arizona
church, resident honky tonk piano player for a large historic saloon and
an independent party/Dixieland pianist. He entertains frequently at
local retirement resorts and senior centers.
When Claire was 18 years old, she lived near Aqueduct Race Track. This
was at the start of the “women’s movement”, and the pressure was on for
female riders in the racing industry. Claire was just the right height
and weight to be an “exercise boy”, so she and her classmate were
licensed and worked at the track as female exercise-boys..
From then on horses were in and out of Claire’s life. After a car
accident, she could not ride, and had to give up her Appaloosa mare.
While on assignment in Bentonville AR as a computer programmer, Claire
saw an ad for miniature horses and went to investigate.. That did it;
she was bitten by the ‘mini-horse-love-bug’.
She came home to New Jersey with her first mini. Now Jerry and Claire
live in Arizona where they have a small herd of minis that she breeds;
Appaloosa, Pinto and Pintaloosa bloodlines with the goal of perfecting
confirmation, then color.
